CP - Merry Christmas. This image reminds me of a backpacking course I took. We were in the Ansel Adams wilderness up around 10,000 feet if I recall correctly and parked ourselves around Breeze Lake for the night. As a challenge, our instructors said we had the choice of spending the night with or without sleeping bags. I chose to challenge myself and go sans bag.Wow! The name of the lake, Breeze Lake, should have been the tip off because it was cold up there. Of course, if you have done anything like this, you know that once the sun drops behind the rim of the mountains, the temps also fall quickly. But what was so memorable about that night was waking about every hour and marching in place for about 10 minutes to warm up before laying down to try to sleep again. The amazing sight through the entire experience was to see the Milky Way moving in time and noticing the new view every time I awoke. It had to be the "longest" night I have ever had. And nothing was a welcome as the warmth of the sun in the morning. Well, except for the hot shower after a week of cross country backpacking. What memories. But definitely, my dreams and reality collided that night and I learned how a cold wind could cut right through clothing as if you had nothing on. Nature is so powerful and beautiful.Have a Happy New Year!
